If you make it too random and complex, you won’t be able to remember it. If you make it too simple and memorable, it’ll be easy for hackers to figure out. In honor of World Password Day, our latest video demonstrates a simple and effective way to ensure your passwords are both memorable and complex:     ### Passphrases — The Easy Way To Make A Complex Password Commonly, passwords are required to include uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. In order to meet those criteria, while also choosing something memorable, consider using a passphrase. This is a combination of multiple words into one long string of characters, instead of a password. The extra length of a passphrase makes it harder to crack. Here’s how to develop your passphrase: - Pick a phrase that is easy for you to remember - Chose 3 – 4 random words and combine them to make a story - Be sure to add in at least one number and symbol For example, a password like “PurpleTurtleBicycle21#” is rather easy to remember. After all, a purple turtle riding a bicycle would be quite a thing to see. It’s safe because it’s complex — this 21 character password would take millions of years for a hacker to crack. ### Don’t Let Weak Passwords Put You At Risk In the end, creating, updating, and managing strong passwords can be frustrating, but it’s incredibly important.
